Charlie Cox's "Casanova" from 2005 is a new find, and it is one of the best books on the subject in recent times, if not the biggest.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, there is no story that does justice to what this story is about. Robert De Niro puts a welcome focus on the ravishing aesthetic that complements the fantastic side of this story without overtaxing it. Rising Silver Surfer, but anyone who grew up with the original Star Wars or even the first Star Trek movie. World at the end of Transformers, the quirky Stardust is exactly what the doctor ordered, and it's one of my favourite films of all time.
L - loosely based on the real-life story of a little boy and his best friend - the film is full of enchanting fantasy landscapes that Iceland and Scotland offer. CGI - powered wizard, and it is stitched together with digitally animated environments in a way that reflects the world of the original Star Wars movies as well as the sci-fi and fantasy worlds of Star Trek. Contrast this with the epic battle between the two worlds, a battle between good and evil and a battle for the future.
Once again, the iconic characters of the original Star Wars and Star Trek films appear in Stardust, and they have appeared in many other movies and television series, as well as in a number of books.
Before we discuss any elements of the book or film, it should be noted that great troublemakers lie ahead. This is something the film and book actively promote for those who follow Tristan and Tristran themselves. He begins his story by changing his name from "Tristan" in the books (for easier pronunciation in the film) to "Tristan." He becomes something much bigger when he goes in search of a fallen star.
Neil Gaiman's Stardust has been forgotten for so long that the author decided to grant Matthew Vaughn the rights for free after running out of options. Some Gaiman purists may resent the fact that these changes work in the novel, but the changes to the film streamline the narrative while exaggerating the elements of adventure and fantasy, which are also tinged with fairy-tale conventions.
Stardust is a complete confidence freak - throwing in the kitchen sink to match the style and pulling everything together so you can't help admiring her for it. A gentle, Disneyfied version of fairy tales and fantasy that often behaves as if the protagonist were on an adventure that allows him to discover who he really is and what he is worth.
Matthew Vaughn brings this sweet and beautiful film to life after directing the Kick-Ass and Kingsman controversies, and it's all about style. There are many other good things in this film, but I welcome it nonetheless. The acting is superb, with some of the best actresses of recent times from the cast and crew of Stardust.
Neil Gaiman's story is based on his novel, and the fantasy kingdom of Stormhold is separated from England by a wall. Within that wall lives a village conveniently called "The Wall," and within that wall Victoria (Sienna Miller) and her husband are friends with a brave boy named Tristan (Charlie Cox). Young Tristan Thorne (Charlie Cox) tries to prove that the self-absorbed beauty cannot be claimed in the eyes of his parents.
When Tristan discovers Yvaine, he leads her on a leash and drags her along to become his new best friend and then his lover. Victoria promises that she will bring him a fallen star, but it takes a moment for her to fall under the star to get a deeper understanding of love. Once it is over, the mystery of their ancestry will be solved and they will cross again, this time on the other side of the Wall, in the town of Stormhold.
In this scene Matthew Vaughn seems a bit too prosaic and doesn't allow Stardust any epic momentum. Suddenly, about 20 minutes after this point, everything comes together and it seems that StardUST has found its way to the end of the world and the beginning of its story.
When it comes to adult fairy tales, author Neil Gaiman is one of the most popular fairy tales makers, and here Stardust, a script adapted (at least in some ways) from his story, begins to find magic. The man who invented the most famous fairy tale in the world, "The Little Mermaid," has his roots deep in the traditional fairy tales of Andersen and Grimm.
Stardust, directed by Matthew Vaughn, is the latest Gaiman yarn tailored for the big screen. In the novel, graphic novel and comic, the different cultural mythologies of the two most famous fairy tales in the world merge into an impressive new vision that conveys spiritual ideas.
