Story:
Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the skills of a soldier. These come from being raised by her father, Erik Heller (Eric Bana), an ex-C.I.A. man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by ruthless intelligence operative, Marissa Wiegler (Cate Blanchett), who has secrets of her own. As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
Hanna (2011) Trailer
The story follows Hanna, a fifteen-year-old girl who has spent her entire life training to become the greatest murderer in the world. She knows all the ropes and knots, but there is a bad Erik who tells her that she is worse than Erik, which definitely won't happen. The pilot episode of "Forest of Hanna" will be streamed on Amazon Prime after Superbowl LIII on Sunday, February 3, 2017.
Hanna follows 16-year-old Ronan, who is trained to be the perfect assassin by an ex-CIA agent named Erik Bana. Throughout her life she was shielded from the known society, which means that she never had any other human contact than her father. As you can see, there is a button in the box that, when pressed, alerts her that a woman named Marissa Wiegler (Cate Blanchett) wants to kill Erik really, really badly.
When her old boss finally catches up with her, Hanna goes on the run, but when she returns in search of her father, the switch is flipped and she is back in control.
When Hanna meets her father, the girl makes a serious body count and discovers the truth about what was said in the Great Mystery and the true nature of her powers.
One of the things that makes this film so memorable is the way Hanna happens and how the film stops snapping her neck, which allows her to be a teenage girl. She goes out into the world for the first time, fighting for her life, and then there's the neck - gasping. The boys make for beautifully shot interludes, the girls go on holiday with the family, they go dancing and make their holidays into a family.
The idea of a young teenager as a murderer is a fascinatingly original premise, and director Joe Wright has woven in an adventure thriller like Hanna, shot on location in Europe and Morocco. Hanna is expected to be one of the most anticipated films at this year's Cannes Film Festival. It is not clear how old she is, although actress Saoirse Ronan has just turned seventeen, but Hanna (played by actress and co-star of "Hanna," also directed by Joe Wright) is 16 years old.
Nothing is done to explain why Cate Blanchett is so determined to eliminate Eric Bana and make the film's back story look like it exists in a void. But that has more to do with the idea than with what is revealed about who Hanna is, and that is a good thing.
Hanna is content to remain a little superficial, and although there are no more internal defects, the shallowness prevents it from being more than a good film. Being a "good film" is not something to scoff at, because so few thrillers these days do what Hanna does so effortlessly: competent and innovative entertainment. I have a feeling that this is not what could have been promised, but it is not what it could have been.
Hanna is directed by Joe Wright, written by Seth Lochhead and David Farr, and stars Saoirse Ronan as 16-year-old Hanna, who lives with her mother and father in a secluded cabin. Her father has trained her all her life to be a perfect assassin, and she is the perfect target for the assassins.
Saoirse Ronan's 2009 Lovely Bones is a flawless burst of conflicting emotions as 16-year-old Hanna Heller, who grew up in the wilds of Finland. Hanna's mission is to kill those who try to kill her father's loved ones, her mother and her father.
She was trained with the ability to be a ruthless murderer, but if she is willing to go out on her own, she can only do it by cutting herself off from outer civilization. She is instantly betrayed by government officials who stop at nothing to capture and kill her.
Her upbringing and training are one and the same and are geared to making her the perfect assassin. She lives the life of any other teenager, but has the unique strength, stamina and intelligence of an intelligent soldier. This comes from her father, Erik, a widower who grew up in the wild north of Finland. Erik trains her, exposes her to extreme self-defense training, teaches her hunting, trains her in martial arts, and her skills as a hunter and hunter - killer.
