The fifth quarter has officially begun, and Paramount Home Entertainment has revealed the schedule for the release of their upcoming home videos. While the studio has largely enjoyed a well-earned break, Paramount has come out swinging with five hits from its extensive catalog.
This is a four-part feature film in which Paul W.S. Anderson discusses the making of several scenes. Secret in 480p (10: 03) is an extended, deleted and extended scene with a commentary by the director. In the opening scene we meet Lewis and Clarke's rescue team, and it's a great introduction to the story of the film.
We get an emergency call from a small mining ship called Lucky Strike, and the rescue crew is called in to salvage a ship called Event Horizon. The ship, which has been missing for many years, is a spaceship with a crew of two, Lewis and Clarke. Seven years after its disappearance, the spacecraft sends a filthy signal back to Earth that sounds like a cry for help. After seven years, the whereabouts of the event have been determined Horizon is unknown and is missing and sought by Earth.
A rescue ship under the command of Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) is dispatched to investigate, and the crew of the Lewis and Clark investigate to find out what happened to Event Horizon. There is a small rescue ship called Lewis & Andd Clark that is on a mission to travel to the outer reaches of our galaxy and find out what is happening to the event horizon, but they cannot investigate until they have found the missing ship and its crew.
Event Horizon 1997 is a spaceship that goes beyond our solar system, but goes much, much further. Event Horizon was created to reach the stars, and it will be created with the intention of finding out what happened.
The voyage will be powered by an experimental black hole engine that works by connecting two distant points in space and was designed by Dr William Weir-Neill. The ship wants to circumvent the laws of physics by using an invention called gravitational propulsion, which folds two points together in such a way that space and time collapse.
Event horizon re-emerges after it sent out an emergency signal near Neptune in the solar system. As the planet's gravity slowly and surely pulls the ship toward destruction, Event Horizon disappears, reappears and disappears again, only to reappear a few days later and send distress signals to those close to Neptune and the solar system.
The ship disappears for a top secret, fast-to-light mission in which its new technology breaks through the walls of the universe and lets it float between the stars. She returns with all those on board who are not only dead, but also torn and smeared. We have just received an emergency signal from a spacecraft, Event Horizon, in orbit around Neptune. Designed to bend space, its flexible space motors send the spacecraft through a unique gravitational field - powered by gravity that sends it through space and back to Earth.
The maverick Dr Weir (Sam O'Neill) has set up Event Horizon and is delighted with what is happening, but Weir is a sleep-deprived man. Lewis and Clark's rescue mission is to find the event horizon, and the team also includes Lt. John Lewis (John Goodman), the ship's chief engineer. Each of them has its own specialized use for the mission, Weir is a scientist, Clark engineer, Lewis "a pilot and Lewis" a pilot with special abilities.
Search and rescue vessels, Lewis and Clark will then be tasked with finding out what happened to Event Horizon. When the rescue team arrives, it is still in a slowly decaying orbit around Neptune, with no signs of life.
At one point it is announced that the astronauts have only 20 hours left, and the crew moves to Event Horizon to try to repair their own ship. Once there, they locate what appears to be an abandoned boat, board it and start looking for clues. During the investigation of the ship, the crews find blood and body parts floating around, but as an unexplained event happens.
Event Horizon turns into a cinematic black hole, and if you have any hope of escaping it, you have to grab your magnetic boots and fire an artificial black hole at it. The second film in Mortal Kombat proved a success for both moviegoers and fans of the game franchise, so it was time to see why Event Horizon finally got the justice it deserved.
