One cannot help but feel that Adil El Arbi and his co-stars know that they are destined to stand in the shadows and be taken out of the game - blinded by their successors. The film stars Will Smith, Michael Bay, Craig Carradine, Bilall Fallah and Joe D'Agostino. Bay has a cameo as a wedding host, but he is not seen in the sequel, in which he reflects on the Middle Ages.
It pays homage to Bay as the camera packs the characters in and out of the sports car. It quotes a plane flying over a giant dilapidated Miami sign, and it quotes the words of Michael Bay himself: "I'm in Miami, Miami."
The first, of course, is that the film itself is not exactly the end of the franchise in any way. El Arbi Fallah, known as Adil Bilall, has had his share of fanfare, but remains largely inconspicuous and fanatic.
The other clue is that Sony already had a fourth bad-boy movie on its release schedule, but it's not officially on the way yet. Four years ago, the studio set a release date for "Bad Boys 3," which was then directed by former Bad Boys 2 director David Fincher. The special thing about all this, then, is that a third bad-boy movie has been in the works for some time.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are both in their 50s, so it's unlikely they'll feature in the fourth film after such a long hiatus. It stands to reason that "Bad Boys 4" will not be released for a few years at the earliest, if not sooner. Bad Boys for Life "is scheduled for one, Sony is planning another. If it does well enough, there is a good chance that a fourth film will be stuck in Sony's schedule for a few years, perhaps even a year.

Even before the film's weekend release, there were reports that Sony was interested in flying back to Miami to film and get former "Boys" writer-director-producer David Fincher to write the screenplay for the fourth film.
Officially, we don't yet know exactly what the future of the show will be, but marketing has certainly pushed the idea that this could be the last. The self-confidence coupled with lively humor and passable set pieces make this the long-delayed third franchise entry that suggests there's still life in it.
It is 17 years since we were able to highlight the literal invasion of Cuba and the destruction of shanty towns on the mountainsides in a raging lobster, without soaking the orgiastic chaos in any kind of incongruity. There was plenty of awe - inspiring Cinema du jour by Michael Bay, but nothing comes close to the greatness of his first two films.
In other words, in a slimmed-down package, Bad Boys for Life offers the same level of action as the two previous films. Will Smith could be the next star - propelled action film to the top of the annual global box office charts. The surprisingly good bad boys of life, who ran an incredibly surprising global box office, followed with a reasonably priced but surprisingly successful sequel to the first film.
