The story follows Grenouille, an unloved orphan in 18th-century France who was born with the ability to distinguish a wide range of scents from around the world. He becomes a perfumer and is hired by a once respected perfumer named Giuseppe Baldini (Dustin Hoffman). Eventually, he realizes that he's picking up several scents from the latest perfumes, and he hires him. When he meets a young girl with an unsurpassed, miraculous smell, GrenOUille is involved in a murder.
In return, Grenouille wants to learn how to recover the essence of a thing, turn it into a fragrance, a woman, and bottle it. He discovers the skills that lead to his ability to find scents, but here he discovers his true identity as a perfumer.
Ben Whishaw, who looks like a cross between Hayden Christensen and Christian Bale, is born to a mother who doesn't want him to be sent to an orphanage as a baby and grow up there to perfect his level of genius. He is beheaded by his father Antoine (Alan Rickman), who will do anything to protect him.
A thin, intense-looking young man is found guilty of murder and sentenced to death in the town square. One day he goes to the city and his work takes him to the wider world, where he discovers the smell of a woman. His irritated attempt to find her essence leads to the death of the first woman, whom he throws off course when he meets her. He is sold into slavery and then into a life of bondage, sells himself into prostitution and finally into slavery itself.
And so begins the beguiling quasi-thriller "The Running Man," based largely on Patrick Suskind's novel, and the story of a murder.

The boy lived a difficult life as an 18th-century orphan, but his incredible nose earned him a place on the New York Times bestseller list for "The Running Man," and his story is told through the eyes of Ben Whishaw, an enduring stoned love. He was born in a stinking fish market, where his working mother left him dead. His fragrant surroundings shake him, his cries are heard by customers and he cries out for his mother's help.
The new film "Perfume," directed by Tom Tykwer, who also directed "The Run" and "Lola rennt," is a start. Eventually he ceased to be the late, great Krzysztof Kieslowski and made a breathtaking film.

He begins his life as an orphan, is sold into the bondage of a brutal tanner and follows his nose into the refined world of fragrances, where it proves to be extremely valuable.
Born with a fragrance of his own, Whishaw has a naturally refined sense of smell that catches the eye of a struggling perfumer (Dustin Hoffman) who keeps him busy creating intoxicating new fragrances. Soon he gets bored and is fixated on reproducing the scents of the female form and bottling them, fuelling his insane obsession with serial murder.
